BUILDING CONFIDENCE

Having confidence in yourself takes time and is a skill that’s always developing. “She believed she could, so she did” is one of my favorite quotes of all time and can really help with simplifying how to gain confidence.

Here are a few steps that have guided me to believe in myself in order to get to the top of my game.

  1.  Positive self talk: Words of affirmation to yourself can help with your performance, motivation, and self-esteem. Your positive mindset will have a significant impact on your performance.

  2. Using my preparation to give me strength both physically and mentally: Think of all the hours you have put into working on your game to get better. Believe in that preparation and never second guess.

  3. Having a short memory after making a mistake: Try to learn from your mistakes but don’t dwell on them.

  4. Being a supportive teammate who lifts people up: Everyone is out there trying to do their best, encouragement and support can have a significant impact on performance.

  5. Having fun! Be grateful that you have the opportunity to play this amazing game.
